Botox and Filler information

Neurotoxin (Botox, Xeomin, Dysport, Jeuveau)

  • Not a wrinkle eraser, only works on “motion wrinkles”
  • Wrinkles will gradually return as the toxin wear off
  • Will not tighten skin, this is a wrinkle relaxer (relaxes the muscle under the skin so the skin doesn’t wrinkle with muscle movement)
  • Lasts 3-6 months, if person is very athletic may need treatments more often
  • With repeated injections, effects may last longer
  • Best results are achieved through regular use
  • Will have full effect in 2-14 days
  • Will Botox treatment cause botulism?  No, it’s a purified protein
  • Treatment areas (Best results if client does forehead, glabellum (between the eyes and crow’s feet)
    • Frown lines
    • Horizontal forehead lines
    • Bunny lines
    • Crow’s feet
    • Lip lines
    • Underarms (excessive sweating)
    • Masseter muscle for jaw clenching

Neurotoxin (Botox) After Care

  • Injections can cause small amounts of swelling, temporary bumps, redness, bruising, headache, tingling, or mild itching. These effects are common and could last up to 3 days
  • The initial effects will show in the first 2-5 days. Full results will take up to 14 days. The benefits wear off after 3-4 months on average; certain conditions may cause benefits to wear off sooner

How to Protect Your Results and Reduce Side Effects

  • Avoid alcohol, exposure to UV light, extreme heat, and exercise for 24 hours
  • When cleansing, avoid pressure and use gentle strokes away from the eyes
  • Avoid facial massages or electrical stimulation of the face for 2 weeks
  • Avoid wearing hats that cover the treated area for 24-48 hours
  • Remain upright 4-6 hours after injections

Reduce the Chance of Infection

  • Do not apply makeup for 12 hours
  • Do not touch your face on the areas treated for 6 hours

When to Contact Us

  • If you develop dry eye, droopy eyelid, or heavy brows
  • Dose adjustments can be made 10-14 days after treatment

 

Dermal Filler Aftercare

  • Avoid exposure to UV light, heat, and intense exercise for 72 hours after treatment
  • You may apply Arnica gel and/or ice packs lightly to treated area
  • Avoid necessary pressure to any of the treated areas for 24-48 hours
  • Do not manipulate the area for 12 hours
  • Do not apply makeup to the treated area(s) for 24 hours

When to contact us: Serious complications are rare, but it’s imperative that you contact us and/or seek medical attention if any of the following occur:

  • Discoloration, intense swelling, or change in texture of the skin and/or increasing pain or discomfort in the first 48-72 hours
  • Swelling, puffiness, or lumpiness which does not fade in the first week
  • The filler changes texture and/or becomes hard, nodular, or lumpy
